Below is a series of 3 large pieces titled Interference. They were inspired by 3 personal experiences that affected my perception of life and people in different ways. Each of them is connected to a particular person.
I made these collages using found objects, fabric, paper, polymer clay, paperclay, etc. While growing up in Cuba, I had to walk a long distance from Monday to Friday on my way to school. To make that daily commute more interesting I started collecting things that I found on the ground. The collection of objects grew to several boxes. I found great pleasure in grouping the findings by material, size, and color. This work is a continuation of what I started as a child, but from an adult perspective. It’s about making sense of he world by studying and connecting unlikely things.
